SUMMARY:Workshop on the Turkish Art of Marbling\, Ebru
DESCRIPTION:Overview/ Description / Introduction \nUNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage \nListed with UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage\, Ebru is the traditional Turkish art of creating colorful patterns by sprinkling and brushing color pigments onto a pan of oily water and then transferring the patterns to paper. This is such an unusual form of art. Special tools of this art are brushes of horsehair bound to straight rose twigs\, a tray\, natural earth pigments\, cattle gall and tragacanth. \nIt is believed to be invented in about the thirteenth century. Seljuk and Ottoman calligraphers and artists used marbling to decorate imperial decrees\, official correspondence and documents. It is often employed as a writing (background) surface for calligraphy\, and especially book covers and endpapers in bookbinding. Part of its appeal is that each print is a unique monotype. \nThis workshop is a learning experience\, in which you will get acquainted with the art of ebru in a very short period of time\, and design your own “ebru” artwork. \n Highlights \n\nThis is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.\nA workshop which invites you to learn how to make Turkish Ebru Art by traditional techniques with an expert artisan.\nPractice different technique of the art and create your own style.\nExperience the secret of rich patterns.\nLearn how to obtain the ebru equipment and try later on your own.\nA perfect choice if you are interested in learning different forms of Turkish local art.\n\n  \nIncluded: \n\nAll equipment and materials\nCommentary and translation services in English by a professional local guide\nTea\, coffee and cookies\n\n Not included: \n\nGratuities\nHotel pickup and drop off\n\n  \nRecurring Event : Every Friday  13:00 – 15:00 \nPrice Person : $45.00 US Dollars \nWhere is C.I.P?
