The Mevlevi Order is an ascetic Sufi order founded in 1273 in Konya, from which it gradually spread throughout the Ottoman Empire. Today, the Mevlevi Order can be found all over the world. This workshop will include a short video presentation, an introduction to a Sufi musician and a whirling dervish, interviews with them, live demonstrations on the whirling dervish ritual, and then your own whirling trials.
